11/08/2018 11:00 PMAn early morning car crash on I-95 has left the highway closed for several hours and one person dead. Crews are working to clean up the multi-car collision and the highway is now expected to reopen around 11 a.m.
State Police responded to a report of an accident on I-95 Northbound, Exit 55 at approximately 6:45 a.m. this morning. Initial reports said it was a motor vehicle accident with injuries. Northbound lanes were closed to traffic and drivers were encouraged to seek alternate routes.
Witnesses on their morning commute said traffic at one point backed up to East Haven and one of the cars involved in the accident could be seen on the highway pointed in the wrong direction.
