Moderators at the town's two polling places described morning and early afternoon as "busy" in North Branford on Tuesday, Nov. 6; with Registrar of Voters Paulette Hart (R) gauging the state election turnout at approximately 50 percent of the total electorate by 4:45 p.m. Polls close at 8 p.m.

At about 2 p.m. on Tuesday, with intermittent to heavy rain falling, Zip06/The Sound checked in at the polls where voters were experiencing a slight wait in two lines at each poll. Counts at that point in time showed 1878 voters had scanned in their ballots at District One polling site (Jerome Harrison Elementary School) while 1909 had logged their votes at District Two in the Stanley T. Williams Community Center (Northford). The steady voting numbers of the morning and afternoon continued and was reflected in Hart's poll of total votes as of 3:10 p.m. in District 1, showing 2,208 votes scanned; and at 4:45 p.m. in District Two, when the total vote count had climbed to 2,132.

With three hours left to vote, those numbers added up to "...about 50 percent, maybe a little higher," of the town's electorate getting in their votes, said Hart, speaking to Zip06/The Sound at 5 p.m. "It's been busy. We think it's going to be a good turnout."

As of Oct. 31, North Branford had a total of 5,296 voters registered in District One and 4,422 registered to vote in District Two, said Hart.

Election Day Registration (EDR) voting has also been steady during the morning and afternoon on Nov. 6 at Town Hall in the Town Clerk's office. All polls close at 8 p.m.
