Repeat Champs: East Haven/North Branford HS Co-Op Band Wins 2018 CT & New England USBands Titles

Second Year in a Row for State, NE Titles

On Oct 31, the East Haven High School (EHHS)/North Branford High School (NBHS) Co-op Marching Band traveled to compete in USBands New England Championship at Veterans Memorial Stadium in New Britain.

For a second year in a row, the EHHS/NBHS Co-op Marching Band won First Place for Group IIA, with a score of 92.913. The EHHS/NBHS Co-op Band was named the 2018 Connecticut and New England Champions, and received caption awards for Best Overall Effect, Best Visual, and Best Percussion.

NBHS members of the 2018 championship co-op band include Griffin Geist, Emma Schreiber, Alex Shadman, Sophia Ouellet, Morgan Bailey, Emily McCormack, Caroline Shadman, and Marlena Karsmarski.

Reporters Note: The EHHS/NBHS cooperative program, established in 2015, brings in a small group of NBHS musicians to compete annually as part of the EHHS/NBHS Co-Op Marching Band. NBHS Band Director Katie Trainer is the EHHS/NBHS Co-Op Marching Band Woodwinds Instructor. In October 2017, the EHHS/NBHS Co-op Marching Band won the titles of USBands Connecticut State Champions and New England Champions.
