Cain's Bid to Win 'The Voice' Ends, But Her Music Will Continue

Guilford native-turned-Texan Katrina Cain's extraordinary talent earned her a competitive place on NBC's The Voice: Season 15 earlier this month. This week's "knockout round" has ended her exciting run on Season 15 of NBC's The Voice, but Guilford native Katrina Cain said she's grateful for the experience of a lifetime, and looking forward to continuing her career as an artist creating new music.

Cain grew up in Guilford and got her singing start in town. She starred in school productions and played piano and sang with the Guilford High School Jazz Band. Earlier this month, Zip06/Guilford Courier spoke to Cain just days after her selection to The Voice's "Team Blake" by music coach/judge and country music star Blake Shelton (see the story here)

During an Oct. 29 knockout round, Cain delivered on her version of The Chainsmokers' "Don't Let Me Down," making it a tough call for Shelton, who had pitted her against contestant Funsho [sic] singing The Weeknd's [sic] "Earned It." In the end, Shelton selected Funsho, who has now advanced to the show's live show semi-finals.

Summing up an incredible ride on what some fans have been calling the #CainTrain, Cain posted the following about her experiences on The Voice, and her plans for the future, at her Instagram, @katrinacainmusic:

"It's time to say goodbye to this incredible journey and hello to the next. Thank you [NBC The Voice] for the most amazing opportunity, and to all the coaches [for] all of the invaluable critique and lessons. Thank you to The Voice Band for letting me jam on the piano with you, and to [Funsho] for being a true friend. Congrats on the big win, you're an incredible vocalist! And thanks to all of YOU for the unwavering support. I am grateful beyond measure for a summer filled with the best moments of my musical life. Now, who's ready to hear new music?"
