The Rev. Sarah Vetter has joined the staff of the First Congregational Church of Madison in the newly created position of minister of community life.

Her official installation ceremony was on Sept. 23. An installation service confirms and celebrates the covenantal relationship between the local church and the newly called clergy person, and reaffirms the relationship of all the churches in the New Haven East Consociation, United Church of Christ (UCC).

Vetter received her MDiv from Yale Divinity School, Institute of Sacred Music in 2002, where she was awarded the Wade Prize for Expository Preaching. She is trained in interim ministry and gestalt pastoral care. She began her career in non-profit administration as an Annunciation House volunteer on the U.S./Mexico border attending to the needs of the migrant and homeless, then working for St. Vincent de Paul and later Church World Service.

She has served as pastor of Diamond Hill United Methodist Church in Cos Cob and Old South Union Church in Weymouth, Massachusetts, and as interim minister for various UCC congregations in Massachusetts and Connecticut.

This new post will reach into the shoreline community and seek ways to meet the needs—spiritual and personal—that modern living makes on everyone. For more information, call 203-245-2739, ext 20.
