Ivoryton Village Celebrates the 18th Annual Pumpkin Festival Oct. 20

The 18th annual Ivoryton Pumpkin Festival in the historic downtown village of Ivoryton is on Saturday, Oct. 20 and brings more than 1,500 visitors to the green for free festival activities.

Festivities include:

• Ivoryton Library’s Pumpkin Chase 5K (9:15 a.m.) and Kids Fun Run (8:45 a.m.); registration starts at 7:30 a.m. at the Ivoryton Green.

• Pre-Festival Pumpkin Carving Party from 10 a.m. to noon at Bushy Hill Nature Center.

• Bohemian Body Art at 4:30 p.m. on the side patio of the Ivoryton Playhouse.

• Halloween Boogie with dance instructor Jennifer Erkkila from 4:30 to 5 p.m. on the side patio of the Ivoryton Playhouse.

• Horse-Drawn Hayride from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.; rides will leave from the Ivoryton Green.

• Free refreshments (while they last) at 5 p.m. on the Ivoryton Playhouse patio.

• Pumpkin Lighting at 5 p.m. (pumpkins must be picked up from 7 to 7:30 p.m.).

• Cookie decorating with volunteers from Child & Family Services of Southeastern Connecticut from 5 to 7 p.m. on the Ivoryton Green.

• Haunted Happenings from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Ivoryton Library.

• Live Music by Federation from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the gazebo.

• Scooby Doo on the Big Screen from 6 to 7:30 p.m. next to Brickside Pizza.

Families, groups, community organizations, and local businesses are needed to bring carved pumpkins to the Ivoryton Green from 2 to 4 p.m. Costumes are encouraged for the event. For more information, call 460-767-4340, ext. 138 or visit www.essexct.recdesk.com.
