William Bilcheck Announces Campaign for Madison-Guilford Probate Judge

Attorney William Bilcheck, candidate for the Madison-Guilford District Probate Judge, has formally announced his campaign after being unanimously nominated by both Madison and Guilford Republican Town committees; encouraged to run by many Democratic, Republican, and unaffiliated voters; and formally endorsed by long time Probate Chief Administrative Judge F. Paul Kurmay.

“For the past 30 years, I have been practicing as an attorney at law serving the Madison and Guilford communities. I have litigated and tried cases in Superior, Appellate, and over 35 Probate courts throughout the State. I have extensive experience in probating wills and the administration of estates/trusts, contested wills, family and elder law, children and mentally ill issues, and conservatorships and guardianships. I am a good listener and have great understanding of applicable probate law. I am guided by the motto: Service above self and justice with compassion—especially for the disabled, the poor, and the abandoned.”

Bilcheck will administer the position of probate judge with compassion and clarity. Politics will be left outside of the courtroom. He is not accepting any campaign contributions.

“I am beholden to no one!” Bilcheck said.

A probate judge must understand that those constituents that come before the court are on an emotional roller coaster and most vulnerable. More often than not, the judicial system fails to apply common sense to issues brought before it. He will bring a caring and pleasant disposition, along with some Old Yankee common sense.

“Four years ago, I ran a very positive campaign, going door to door in both communities, meeting thousands of wonderful citizens. I came up short by only 269 votes. I am back, again, four years later, to challenge Peter Barrett in round two!”

A resident of Madison for 30 years, Bilcheck and his wife, Holly, have four boys: Cody, Brendan, Colin, and Brett. When not practicing law, he has served on Madison Planning & Zoning Commission for 15 years (8 as chairman) and been a Madison Little League, Youth Basketball, and Youth Football coach and board member. Currently, he is a board member of Tiger Pride Football Association and Madison Athletic Hall of Fame and president of St. John the Baptist Church.
