09/27/2018 12:01 AMOn Aug. 25, North Haven Garden Club Youth Chair and Poetry Contest Coordinator Cindy Golia presented gift bags to the five winners of this year’s National Garden Clubs Poetry Contest “Pop Goes the Seed.” The poetry contest was launched in April at the Earth Day Celebration held at the North Haven High School.
Five winners were selected from the entries received in the grade categories 1, 2, 5, and 7. Gift bags containing age-appropriate activity books, crayons, markers, and colored pencils along with a gift card to Barnes & Noble were awarded to each of the winners.
The winners’ poems will be sent to the Federated Garden Club; regional winners are considered in the judging for national winners. All of the winning entries will be compiled into a booklet, which will be made available to the winners.
