09/25/2018 03:30 PMOn Tuesday, Oct. 2, Clinton parents and educators will have the opportunity to learn about the reasons behind different behaviors exhibited by children as they age, thanks to a free event sponsored by the PTA at the Henry Carter Hull Library.
The event, called “Why is my Child Acting Like This?!” will take place at 6:30 p.m. in the library. The event, led by Dr. Alicia Farrell, Ph.D., will feature a discussion by a panel and a question and answer portion.
“The goal of this workshop is to explain brain development at various ages, and provide advice and tools to help parents, teachers, and adults to support the children and students,” said PTA Vice President Laura Colebank.
Andrea Reu, one of the event organizers, said this discussion will cover the different behavioral and learning abilities and that children have at different ages.
“We want to make parents and teachers more aware of them,” Reu said.
Reu said the evening will be “very casual” and will discuss children from Kindergarten through high school.
“Anybody can come, you don’t have to be a PTA member,” Reu said.
Reu said that Farrell, a cognitive psychologist, “is more than hands-down amazing” and that the PTA has used her for several events in the past that were well received.
“She has a wealth of knowledge and is amazing on this. She’s always a big draw,” Reu said.
In addition to Farrell, Reu said there will be other members on the panel to answer questions from the audience.
“The PTA has been doing programs aimed at parents, students, and educators over the last six or seven years,” Reu said.
