Madison Senior Center Evacuated Following Report of White Powder

The Madison Senior Center has been evacuated following the report of an unknown white powder earlier today. Officials say the building was evacuated as a precautionary measure and the building is currently closed.

First Selectman Tom Banisch said the report came though at 11:16 a.m. from the Senior Center on Bradley Road on Sept. 24.

“One of the seniors found something in the parking lot across the street and they brought it into the building and gave it to [Assistant Senior Services Manager] Heather [Noblin], so she called,” he said. “She called in the alert.”

Banisch said there have been no reports of anyone being injured and the evacuation and closure of the building is a precautionary measure.

Madison Police and Fire are currently responding to the report and Banisch said the fire department hazmat team will go in to investigate.
