North Haven Garden Club member Gerri Giordano came up with the idea to plant a new garden between the two redbud trees the club planted on Arbor Day a few years ago on the side of the North Haven Historical Society. With the help of garden club member Cindy Golia, the design of the garden was underway; Golia outlined the garden with spray paint and the North Haven Public Works Department dug out the area for the garden and delivered topsoil that was spread by Lee Fermo and Walt Brockett.

Golia, Lee Fermo, and Marge Quinn purchased and planted two knockout rose bushes along with two magnus purple coneflowers and two sombrero lemon yellow cone-flowers. The following day, Fermo and her grandson James Yosua finished the oval by planting bright yellow African marigolds and jolt pink dianthus.
