State Rep. James Albis Receives CEP Grant

On July 16, State Representative James Albis received his grant from the Citizens Election Program (CEP). CEP was introduced following the Governor John Rowland conviction in an attempt to eradicate improper donations to candidates running for public office. Participating in CEP requires candidates to collect small donations from residents in their districts.

“I am honored to once again participate in the CEP. which allows our state to have clean elections and keep dark money out of the political process,” Representative Albis stated. “This program has put the power of financing campaigns back in the hands of everyday people and that is why it is humbling that our campaign was able to raise the funds in small contributions from people in our communities.

“I am running for re-election because there is still a lot that needs to be done in Hartford for the people of East Haven,” he continued. “We need to continue to prioritize advocacy for more adequate funding for our schools, affordable healthcare, and better support for our seniors to be able to retire right here in Connecticut.”

Representative Albis was first elected in a special election in 2011 and is currently serving his fourth term as state representative in his hometown of East Haven. He has been a consistent and active champion for the people of the 99th District, advancing policies that have increased East Haven’s share of state aid, expanded the town’s Family Resource Center, and protected programs that our seniors rely on like the Medicare Savings Program.
