Each year, The Morgan School shares profiles the graduating class’s top academic performers with Harbor News readers. The Morgan School Class of 2018 graduates on Wednesday, June 20.

Kaitlyn Maurais is the daughter of Francis and Sharri Maurais and sister to Aiden Maurais. She has been a member of the Student Council and secretary for the Class of 2018 all four years at Morgan and is also the secretary of National Honors Society and a member of the Spanish National Honors Society. Maurais has been an active leader in the STEP Freshman Orientation program and was a three-year mentor in the Freshman Advisory program. She has been a member of REACT, serving as vice president during her senior year. Maurais is also a three-year member of the Morgan outdoor track team.

Outside of school, Maurais has been a dancer since the age of two, dancing competitively for 13 years. As a tap soloist, she has competed at the Dance Masters of America National competition, representing Connecticut as Junior Miss Dance 2010 and 2012, Teen Miss Dance 2014, and Miss Dance 2016. Maurais has been an active member at St. Mary’s Church of the Visitation. She has been an altar server, lector, and counselor at the summer vacation bible school program. In addition, Maurais has volunteered at Valley Shore Animal Welfare League with local shelter dogs and cats.

Maurais will attend Skidmore College or Fairfield University in the fall, majoring in biology.

Katherine “Kate” Daley is the daughter of Michael and Cynthia Daley. Daley is the president of Morgan’s National Honor Society, a Husky leader, a healthy food blogger, and an All-State cross-country and track athlete. Daley is also a Morgan Peer Advocate and a member of the Spanish National Honor Society. Daley was a captain for the cross-country, indoor track, and outdoor track teams her senior year. Throughout high school, Daley has volunteered throughout the community at various school and community events and has attended numerous leadership conferences, including several through the Student Leadership Training Program (SLTP). Additionally, she has worked part-time at Lenny and Joe’s Fish Tale in Madison for the past two years.

Daley will attend the University of Connecticut in the fall to study biology and nutrition, and to run cross-country, indoor track, and outdoor track.

Andraya Carse is the daughter of Amy and Kevin Carse. Carse runs Andie’s Confections, a nonprofit fudge and truffle business that she started when she was 12. She also volunteers as a junior board member with Kids for Kids, a local non-profit organization that serves local kids in need. Carse is a member of both the National and Spanish Honor societies as well as a member of Interact and REACT. Additionally, she is vice president of her class, a Husky leader and a part of the freshman mentoring program. Carse has been dancing competitively for 13 years. She ran outdoor track until her junior year, and is now sailing with Daniel Hands sailing team while working on developing a sailing program at Morgan.

Matt Beauvais is the son of Joe and Jeannette Beauvais and younger brother of Michelle Beauvais. Since freshman year, Beauvais has been a part of the High School Bowl team. Beauvais has also been a member of the Morgan Musicals, beginning with the role of Evelyn Oakley in the 2016 production of Anything Goes. Since then, he has played the part of Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls, Horace Vandergelder in Hello, Dolly, and Steven Kodaly in She Loves Me. Beauvais was inducted into the National Honor Society and French National Honor Society junior year. Outside of school, Beauvais has been an active member of Boy Scout Troop 55 since 2011. Recently, he has reached the rank of Eagle Scout through the service project he completed at the beach. The project was a sign covering the town of Clinton’s past with the War of 1812.

Mary Kate Staunton is the daughter of James and Catherine Staunton. Staunton is the secretary of the Interact Club and vice president of the National Honor Society. She is also a student representative the Clinton PTA and a member of the Spanish National Honor Society. She spent one summer volunteering at Yale New Haven Hospital and spent another summer volunteering in Nepal. Staunton played soccer for three years, swam for one year, fenced for two years, and ran outdoor track for four years.

Brett Martin is the son of Chris and Amy Martin and older brother to Erin and Katie. Martin has been a runner for the Morgan cross country and track team for four years. He served as president of the Morgan Class of 2018 for two years and is currently the president of the school-wide student council. Martin is most proud of his work onstage as a member of the Morgan Musical, where he was recently seen as Georg Nowack in this year’s production of She Loves Me and as Cornelius Hackl in last year’s Hello Dolly. Martin is a member of the National Honor Society and the French Honor Society, as well as a student representative to the Clinton Board of Education.

Martin is considering attending George Washington University or Fordham University this fall.

Nina Kelly is the daughter of Maria Phillips and sister to John Kelly. Kelly is the co-president of the Interact Club and co-president of the REACT club at Morgan. She was also captain of the fencing team. Kelly is a member of the National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society. Kelly is also a member of the Husky Leadership program. Kelly co-founded the Beach Bash charity event at the school as well as the Senior Citizen’s Prom and has volunteered at various places including the Shoreline Food Pantry, Joel’s Monster Mash, the Morgan Fencing Summer Camp, and with the charity organization Kids of America’s Heroes.

Kelly will attend Quinnipiac University in the fall and will be part of Quinnipiac’s 3+1 program for communications.

Madison Seeger is the daughter of Laurie and Dave Seeger and sister to Kristina. Seeger is a member of National Honors Society and Spanish National Honors Society, has been named a Morgan scholar, and is a Husky leader. She has organized a 5K color run at The Morgan School, has volunteered at lacrosse camps, Clinton Family Day, and other community events. Seeger has played volleyball, basketball, and lacrosse throughout her high school career and was named lacrosse captain her senior year.

Seeger will attend either the University of Rhode Island or Bridgewater State University where she will continue her lacrosse career and be double majoring in elementary education and special education.

Katie Kozak, daughter of Andrew and Penny Kozak, is a member of both the National Honors Society and the French National Honors Society. She is a band captain this year and has participated in the Shoreline Music Festival for three years in a row. During her years at Morgan, she has been involved in the Interact Community Service Club, volunteered to co-teach the Pierson Art Club, and was the recipient of the Brett Renfrew Grant, which she used to attend the Montserrat College of Art’s Summer College Program. She also participated in the Shoreline Arts Alliance art contest and received third place in pastel for her pastel painting.

Although she is unsure of what her major may be, she is all set to attend Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts next fall.

Anes Gadun is the son of Almin and Vahida Gadun. He is a member of the National Honors Society, Spanish National Society, Husky Leaders, and a Board of Ed subcommittee. Gadun was a four-year starter on Morgan’s soccer team, of which he was the captain his junior and senior year. The team won states this year and Gadun was an all-state athlete. He also runs indoor and outdoor track for Morgan. Gadun is a volunteer firefighter and currently studying to be an EMT. He also is an assistant coach for youth soccer and helped organize shoreline mindset conferences at Morgan as well as volunteering at other various community events.

Gadun will be pursuing pre-med in college with hopes of becoming a doctor, as well continuing his soccer career at the University of Saint Joseph, Quinnipiac, or Wesleyan.
