Pellegrino Appointed to Madison BOE

Madison’s Board of Education (BOE) once again has a full compliment of nine members. The Board of Selectmen (BOS) approved the nominated candidate Tom Pellegrino on May 17. Pellegrino was sworn in shortly thereafter and is now seated on the BOE.

A longtime Madison resident, Pellegrino, a Democrat, is an administrator at Fairfield University and holds a Ph.D. in educational administration and a law degree from Syracuse University College of Law. According to his board application, Pellegrino was a practicing litigation attorney for a decade focusing on education, labor, tort, employment, family, and municipal law.

Pellegrino fills the position on the board vacated by member Matt Parthasarthy on April 9. Parthasarthy, who was fist elected this past November, resigned from the board citing personal issues that left him unable to faithfully discharge his board duty.

Parthasarthy was the second Democrat to resign from the board this year after longtime board member and new chair Alison Keating announced her resignation due to work and family time constraints back in January. Greg DeSantis replaced Keating.

Pellegrino’s term will expire in November 2021.
