'Right Fit, Right Time, Right Values'; GOP Nomination Expected May 22

May 18, 2018: Branford Board of Finance and former Representative Town Meeting (RTM) member Robert Imperato announced today that he will seek the GOP nomination for state representative from the 102nd House District. The seat is currently held by State Representative Lonnie Reed, who announced she would not seek re-election this fall.

"Connecticut is at a fiscal tipping point, and Connecticut taxpayers cannot afford a continuation of lackluster job and economic growth," Imperato said. "The timing is right for change in Hartford and I believe I have the right experience, commitment and judgment to help protect Branford taxpayers and address the fiscal problems we all face as Connecticut citizens."

Imperato has been an active member of the Branford community for well over 30 years. He and his wife raised four children in town who attended Branford public schools. He has served the town as an RTM member from 2012-2018, where he chaired the committee that oversees public services like fire and police as well as been active in various local community organizations. He currently serves on the Branford Board of Finance and the Water Pollution Control Authority.

"My experience and commitment to the Town is not just something I talk about," Imperato said, "but something I have lived."

Imperato said that his 40 years of banking, financial and municipal expertise, as well as budgetary and management operation will be the thing that distinguishes his campaign.

"It's no surprise that Connecticut is in financial trouble, the only question for voters is: will we send another politician to Hartford or someone with a proven track record of financial experience?"

Imperato also cited his nonpartisan approach to local government.

"I regularly extend my hand across the aisle in order to do what was the in the best interest of the residents and taxpayers of Branford. I have always placed people before partisanship."

First Selectman Jamie Cosgrove had high praise for Imperato.

"Bob is the right candidate, with the right experience we need in Hartford. I am happy that he is willing to offer his time and effort to helping fix the mess in Hartford," Cosgrove said.

Branford Republicans will nominate their candidate at a town-wide caucus open to all registered Republicans who are Branford residents on May 22, 2018 at 7 p.m. at Donovan Reef's Sonar Room [1212 Main St. Branford]. Imperato is not expected to have opposition at the Caucus.
