Exchange Club Honors Youth of the Month

Michael Campanelli, the son of John and Valerie Campanelli, has been honored with the Exchange Club of Madison David Bell Scholarship Award as the March Youth of the Month. The Daniel Hand High School (DHHS) senior was nominated by the DHHS faculty, and completed a competitive application that included an essay entitled “Strengthening America Through Socially Responsible Communities,” performing outstanding DHHS and community activities, attaining an excellent grade point average, demonstrating personal achievements, and earning high value awards.

The Exchange Club of Madison Youth of the Month and Year Chairman David Bell presented Campanelli with a $300 award and commemorative plaque. Campanelli is an honor student, member of the National Honor Society and DHHS Giving Back Club, earned a varsity letter in cross country, and participated in outdoor and indoor track. He has been a member of the DHHS Chamber Ensemble, String Orchestra, and CMEA Southern Regional and All State Orchestras where he plays the viola. He is an active member of Saint George’s Parish as a youth representative of the Parish and Food Ministry. He is now forming an APK Club at DHHS to help raise funds for veterans. He was also selected for and attended the American Legion Boy’s State Conference.

For college, Campanelli has applied to Furman University, Hofstra University, University of North Carolina, Emory University, and American Catholic University.
