VNA Community Healthcare & Hospice Hosts Annual Breakfast

VNA Community Healthcare & Hospice will hold its annual Breakfast in Bloom fundraiser at Woodwinds in Branford Tuesday, May 1 at 7:30 a.m. It will include music from Daniel Hand High School a capella group Encore, a raffle, and a silent auction. All proceeds from the event will support the nonprofit visiting nurses agency’s services, including home healthcare, community wellness programs, and its Family Caregiver Support Network.

This year’s breakfast will also bring the formal launch of the organization’s new hospice program. Director of Hospice Susan Sokol will provide an overview of the program.

“The need for hospice is, of course, difficult for both an individual and their family, but at VNA Community Healthcare & Hospice, we help to make the journey at the end of life one of comfort and peace,” Sokol said. “Although most people know that hospice includes pain and symptom management and other medical and personal care services, many are not aware of the therapeutic offerings—including pet therapy, music therapy and reiki, among others—and the emotional support we are able to provide. Adding hospice was a natural evolution in our continuum of care as we seek to, truly, be beside you at every turn.”

As it has annually, VNA Community Healthcare & Hospice will present Community Partner Awards to three people for 2018. Recipients will include Bernadette DiGiulian of the Shoreline Eldercare Alliance, Karen Ragonese of Towne Pharmacy, and Maureen Welch of Now & Then Massage.

“We cannot have VNA Community Healthcare & Hospice without the word ‘community,’ and likewise we cannot have success without that critical component,” said VNA Community Healthcare & Hospice President and CEO Janine Fay. “It is a special moment each year when we have the opportunity to thank our valued partners for all they do to help us realize our goals of promoting and preserving the health, safety, dignity, and independence of individuals and families.”

Tickets for the breakfast are $40 each. Tables of 10 are available for $350. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit www.ConnecticutHomecare.org or call 203-458-4277.
