Awards and Recognitions

• Senior loan officer Armando Rams was for the second year in a row the top volume producer for the Primary Residential Mortgage, Inc. (PRMI) Guilford office for 2017. Rams also ranks first as the top PRMI loan officer in the statet, as well as in the top 25 loan officers nationally for the company. His achievements have earned him national recognition by attaining PRMI Elite Club status.

Rams is a longtime shoreline resident. He joined PRMI in 2014 and has been in the mortgage industry for 24 years. Robert Bradley and Patricia Beale, senior loan officers in the Guilford office, were also named as top 100 loan officers for the company.

• Ben Bogardus of Guilford, assistant professor of journalism at Quinnipiac University, has been named a “Noteworthy Journalism Educator” by Crain’s NewsPro magazine. This year’s 10 honorees, which include professors, a lecturer and an associate dean from universities around the nation, were nominated by NewsPro readers and members of the Radio Television Digital News Association and the Broadcast Education Association. Bogardus, who joined the faculty in 2010, specializes in teaching broadcast news writing, TV reporting, TV newscast producing, and podcasting. Before entering academics, he was a newscast producer at WJLA-TV, the ABC affiliate for Washington, D.C. While in Washington, he won an Emmy, regional Edward R. Murrow, and two Associated Press awards for “Best Newscast.” He also shared in a national Murrow award for “Best Breaking News” for his work in the control room during the station’s coverage of the June 2009 deadly Metro train collision.

• Residential sales associate David Mayhew has been named the 2017 top individual residential producer for the Pearce Real Estate company’s Guilford office. He also was named a top producer companywide. The Popplewell Team (composed of residential sales associates Sue Popplewell and Amanda Popplewell) was named as Pearce Real Estate’s 2017 top team on the shoreline, and second highest producing team companywide.

• Eli Meyer of Guilford, vice president and financial consultant with Webster Investment Services (WIS), has been named a five-star wealth manager in Connecticut. The five star program is one of the largest and most widely published financial services award programs in North America. Those who achieve the honor are evaluated against a 10-point list of objective criteria, including client retention and favorable regulatory history. Meyer is one of 18 Webster Investments financial consultants in the state to receive the five star wealth manager designation for 2018.

Additions and Promotions

• Rebecca Santos and Sallyanne Young have joined the Weichert, Realtors Suburban Properties Guilford office.

• Jason Alaska and Carlos D. Pena have joined Pearce Real Estate as a residential sales associate in the Guilford shoreline office. Alaska has resided in North Branford for the past 13 years. Pena, who lives in Guilford, will be a member of The Popplewell Team.

Accomplishments

• The Barnum Financial Group announces the launch of Barnum Capital Management, a Guilford-based firm whose four financial professionals have a combined experience of more than 50 years working with clients.
