For the second time in two weeks, Branford Police have made an arrest after a juvenile in a stolen vehicle hit a police cruiser.

April 17, 2018: Patrick P. Geyer (DOB 6/19/1998) of 728 Arctic Street, Bridgeport along with four (4) male juveniles were occupants in a stolen car from Stamford when it crashed into a police cruiser operated by Officer John Abely at about 9:45 p.m. last evening (4/16/18).

Officer Abely, along with Officers Christopher Romanello and Michael O'Connor, were responding to the report of suspicious people and a vehicle in the area of Seldon Avenue, which is in the Pine Orchard section of Branford. Five (5) vehicles were reported stolen from that same area less than 24 hours earlier.

Officers were looking for a dark colored, Honda minivan with a bike rack on the rear, when they received another report of activity close by on Pleasant Point Road. The resident told 911 operators that a white truck had just crashed into parked cars in his driveway, and that the occupants were leaving in the Honda minivan. As Officer Abely was approaching the area, the minivan struck the front of his patrol vehicle, traveled off the roadway, striking a rock and rolling onto its side. All five (5) occupants were temporarily trapped in the vehicle until they were removed and taken into custody by the Officers.

Investigation determined that the five (5) had arrived in the area using the stolen Honda and then stole a 2018 Ford truck from a nearby home on Totoket Road before crashing it at the end of Pleasant Point Road.

All of the juveniles, three (3) from Bridgeport and a fourteen year old driver from Derby were all charged with a number of offenses including, but not limited to: two (2) counts of Larceny 1st ; two counts (2) of Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 1st.; two (2) counts Burglary 3rd. and two (2) counts of Conspiracy to Commit Burglary 3rd. All of the juveniles were released to their parent(s) and are scheduled to appear in a Juvenile Court in their area.

Patrick Geyer was charged with the same offenses and is being held on a $50,000 cash bond. He is going to be arraigned in New Haven Court today (April 17, 2018).
