Sema4 Bio-Sci Bringing More Jobs to Branford


April 5, 2018: State Representative Lonnie Reed (D, District 102,Branford) is pleased that the bio-science research firm Sema4 is expanding its presence with more than 400 new jobs in Branford and Stamford. The company will also use a $6 million loan from the state Department of Economic and Community Development for machinery, equipment and capital improvements.

"These are great jobs that attract talented researchers and laboratory professionals who earn excellent salaries with exceptional benefits," said Rep. Reed who co-chairs the legislature's Bipartisan Bioscience Caucus. "They make immense contributions to our local and state economies while working to alleviate human suffering and promote healing."

Sema4 will add to its workforce on Commercial Drive in Branford and also relocate its lab facilities from New York City to Stamford.  In 2014, Sema4 partnered with the Icahn Institute at Mount Sinai to open a genomics research lab in Branford. The company uses deep data analysis to improve the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease and advanced genome-based diagnostics for reproductive health and oncology.

Rep. Reed is House Chair of the Energy & Technology Committee and also serves on the Finance, Revenue & Bonding and Planning & Development committees.
