On Feb. 19 at approximately 5 p.m., troopers from Troop F-Westbrook and the Haddam Resident Trooper’s Office were dispatched to the Route 9 exit 8 commuter parking lot on Beaver Meadow Road in Haddam for the report of a suspicious vehicle. According to the 9-1-1 caller, the male operator was walking around the vehicle and it appeared that he may have been involved in a motor vehicle accident.

Upon arrival troopers located and spoke with the male, Adam Lacourse. While speaking with Lacourse, troopers determined that illegal contraband may be on Lacourse and/or inside the vehicle, and initiated an investigation.

Lacourse was asked to exit the vehicle so troopers could continue the investigation. Upon exiting the vehicle, Lacourse was patted down for weapons/contraband at which time a spring-loaded knife was found on Lacourse’s belt and a marijuana grinder was located in his jacket pocket. Lacourse also told troopers that there was heroin inside the vehicle. Troopers seized 97 packets of heroin and two Xanax pills in an unmarked prescription bottle.

Adam Lacourse (dob 6/10/85) of Deep River was taken into custody and transported to Troop F where he was charged with possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance not in its original container, carrying a dangerous weapon, and possession of drug paraphernalia in connection with less than one-half ounce of marijuana. Lacourse was released after posting $50,000 bond and scheduled to appear Middletown Superior Court on March 1.
