CFMC: Good Things Are Happening Thanks To You

The beginning of a new year is always a special time at the Community Foundation of Middlesex County. It’s a time of new perspectives, intentions, and opportunities to partner with donors and local nonprofits to see where we can improve the quality of life for all in our region. We’re excited to begin 2018 by announcing that in the final month of 2017, 68 grants, totaling $185,072, were awarded to our local nonprofits.

Thanks to you, our valued donors, and your gifts of all sizes and designations, we are able to create charitable funds that provide grant support for animal welfare, the arts, education, heritage enhancement, human services, the environment and more. Your gifts do more than you can ever imagine. Just imagine: Young people and adults with developmental challenges will have access to equine-assisted therapy programs to help build essential life skills. Injured wildlife will have a weather-proof hospital for critical care treatment and exams. Trained tutors—all volunteers—will give the gift of literacy to our friends and neighbors. High school and college students will have summer employment opportunities that will teach discipline, responsibility, and accountability—life skills worth their weight in gold.

There’s even more. Because of your generosity, Middlesex County’s beautiful and vast open space and hiking trails will be more accessible and easier for the public to navigate. People of all ages will foster new ideas and friendships through educational, historical, and science-themed multigenerational field trips. Your friends and neighbors will volunteer to provide free transportation and companionship to seniors and disabled individuals who need help getting to and from medical appointments. You will feed the hungry, send kids to camp for life-changing experiences, and create new authors, right in our own back yard, as you help veterans publish their compiled memoirs to share with our community.

Because you know that every gift—regardless of size—improves the quality of life in our community, because you live locally and give locally, you are making sure that Middlesex County is a great place to live, work, and play. Thanks to you, we have the privilege of seeing firsthand the very real difference we all can make in the lives of so many. By pooling resources and working together as partners, we can have a positive impact on our local community today and tomorrow.
