A 2016 study conducted by the United Way of Connecticut reports that more than one-third of all state households are not earning enough to cover their basic needs, including food. To make sure everyone in Liberty Bank’s service area had the option of a turkey dinner this past holiday, the Liberty Bank/Rotary Club Thanksgiving Drive, now in its 14th year, raised a record-breaking $356,372 to help supply that food.

The Rotary Clubs of Branford, Chester, Clinton, Deep River, Madison, and Old Saybrook accounted for $67,923 of that total to benefit central Connecticut shoreline agencies.

The Deep River Rotary Club and the Liberty Bank branch in Deep River raised $4,530, and received matching funds of $1,132 from the Liberty Bank Foundation, for a total of $5,662. The funds were donated to Deep Food Pantry.
