Celebrate National Rubber Ducky Day at Essex Duck

Saturday, Jan. 13 is National Rubber Ducky Day. Essex Duck (across the street from the Griswold Inn, in Essex) will celebrate the occasion with fun, games, rubber duck-shaped treats, and free rubber ducks for the first 100 visitors.

The idea for Essex Duck was hatched just nine months ago with a single yellow rubber duck - purchased, on impulse, as a distraction from the cares of the world. Essex Duck now boasts one of largest and most diverse offerings of premium, collectible, and designer rubber ducks in the world.

There are ducks resembling rock stars (Prince, Kiss, Elvis) and legends (Harry Ponder, Goosebusters, The Duckinator); ducks representing various professions (doctors, pilots, business women), trades (plumbers, carpenters, miners), and sports (polo, soccer, golf); historic ducks (Henry VIII, Anne Boleyn, Churchill); artist ducks (Frida Kahlo, Picasso, Salvador Dali); and ducks dressed up like animals, angels, flowers, and more.

"There really is no other experience like being surrounded by thousands of rubber ducks," said co-owner Larry Athay. "Visitors are speechless to see floor-to-ceiling shelves filled with nothing but rubber ducks."

Additional ideas for celebrating National Rubber Ducky Day (along with rubber duck jokes to share with anyone who will listen) can be found at www.essexduck.com. For more information, call 860-581-8351.
