A 2016 study conducted by the United Ways of Connecticut reports that more than one-third of all state households are not earning enough to cover their basic needs, including food. In an effort to make sure everyone in Liberty Bank’s service area can enjoy a turkey dinner this holiday, the Liberty Bank/Rotary Club Thanksgiving Drive, now in its 14th year, has raised a record-breaking $356,372 to help supply that food.

The Rotary Clubs of Branford, Chester, Clinton, Deep River, Madison, and Old Saybrook accounted for $67,923 of that total to benefit central Connecticut shoreline agencies.

The Old Saybrook Rotary Club and the Liberty Bank branch in Old Saybrook raised $1,043, and received matching funds of $260 from the Liberty Bank Foundation, for a total of $1,304. The funds were donated to Old Saybrook, Westbrook, and Lyme/Old Lyme Social Services for the purchase of grocery gift cards.
