All the Fun of the All the Fairs

This year, six Tri-Town churches are banding together to turn their annual Christmas church fairs into a special event for locals and visitors.

Famous for great holiday shopping with quality crafts and those incredible homebaked treats, hundreds of hours are poured into these holiday fairs organized by dedicated volunteers. This year, all the fairs have come together to create the River Valley Christmas Fair Passport.

On Saturday, Dec. 2, shoppers can pick up a passport and have it stamped at each fair. As well as collecting tokens such as raffle tickets along the way, completed passports will be entered into the draw for gift certificates and dinners at local restaurants, including the River Tavern and Grano in Chester.

Organizers hope the new passport program will encourage shoppers to explore new fairs and help support the sustainability of local churches and their financial health.

On Saturday, Dec. 2, the following fairs are participating in The River Valley Christmas Fair Passport: St. Joseph’s Church, 48 Middlesex Avenue, Chester; Our Lady of Sorrows, 14 Prospect Street, Essex; First Congregational Church, 1 Church Street, Deep River; United Church of Chester, 29 West Main Street; Winthrop Baptist Church, 444 Winthrop Road, Deep River; and First Congregational Church, 39 Main Street, Essex.

Organizers are looking for more restaurants and merchants to participate in the program. For more information, email Kevin Brough at kevinbrough024@gmail.com
