The Father James F. Donaher Council 3733 North Haven Knights of Columbus donated two boxes filled with 24 brand new coats for girls and boys in need in the North Haven area. The coats were donated to Debra Zavarella, who has received more than 500 coats this year towards her goal of 800 coats. She in turn, gets all of the coats to organizations such as BHCare in North Haven, supporting victims of domestic violence, as well as organizations such as Veterans and Boys & Girls Club of New Haven. Stop & Shop has helped by allowing Debra to place a coat collection box at the store. Those with gently used coats may drop them off at Stop & Shop in North Haven or email Debra at debbiezav1959@gmail.com

The Knights of Columbus, through its 1,780 local councils, distributed 87,906 new coats to children in need throughout the United States and Canada last year. Since the program began in 2009, nearly 400,000 new coats have been distributed.
