Friends and family of local coach and community volunteer John Kustra invite supporters to join them for a fundraising benefit for Kustra set for Sunday, November 19, noon - 4 p.m. at the Branford Elks Lodge, 158 South Montowese St.

Kustra has been an active presence in Branford's community sports scene including his coaching and efforts to promote local athletics and sportsmanship through his 'Johnny K-Camps.' In addition to being in local coaching for over 20 years, Kustra is a former recreation softball commissioner and high school liaison, and an overall great asset to local sports. Due to complications from diabetes, Kustra recently underwent a leg amputation. All proceeds from the Nov. 19 benefit will help offset his medical bills.

Community members are encouraged to attend the benefit and enjoy food, fun, raffles, a silent auction and live music by The Bendors. Ticket donation, $20 per person, accepted at the door. For more information, or to make a donation, contact Sue Calistro at (203) 500-5313.
