On Sept. 28, North Haven Garden Club member and Youth Chair Cindy Golia along with member Bene’ Jablonski met with 2nd graders from Brownie Troop 60063 at Ridge Road School to discuss the garden that they previously planted. A handout titled “Plants and Their Care” was passed out to the girls and their moms. Golia spoke to the troop about what was planted and how to care for a mixed flower garden, the tools needed to plant bulbs, and the difference between annual and perennial plants. A handout on “The Parts of a Plant” was discussed and a coloring page kept the girls entertained. After the discussion, the girls went outside and were shown what the plants looked like now and what they will become in the spring. The girls took turns watering all the plants in their new garden.
