Maturo Edges Ahead of Maltese to Win 9th Term in East Haven


Eight-term incumbent Republican Joseph Maturo, Jr. will return for a ninth term as mayor, winning by a 1.5 percent margin over Democrat Salvatore Maltese. Maturo received 3,649 votes while Maltese received 3,543 votes.

The town clerk will be Stacy Gravino. Esposito (D) received 3,267 votes while Gravino (R) received 3,471 votes.

For Town Council District 1, Patrick Paulson (D) received 594 votes, Kenneth McKay (R) received 722 votes, Ann Penington (D) received 599 votes, Robert Parente (R) received 667 votes, Beth Capotorto (D) received 625 votes, and Fred Parlato (R) received 706 votes. The three seats will be filled by McKay, Parlato, and Parente.

For Town Council District 2, Joseph Santino, Jr. (D) received 898 votes, Nicholas Palladino (D) received 818 votes, Joseph Deko (D) received 900 votes, Albert Carocci (R) received 574 votes, Gary DePalma (R) received 711 votes, and Beverly Gravino (R) received 610 votes. The three seats will be filled by Deko, Santino, and Palladino.

For Town Council District 3, Louis Pacelli (D) received 663 votes, William Richardson (R) received 546 votes, Joseph Carfora (D) received 618 votes, Judy Esposito (R) received 594 votes, Paul Thompson, Sr. (D) received 580 votes, and Robert Sand (R) received 581 votes. The three seats will be filled by Pacelli, Carfora, and Esposito.

For Town Council District 4, Joseph Badamo (D) received 590 votes, Letizia Lettieri-Morales (D) received 585 votes, Dominic Cretella (D) received 557 votes, Bob Cubellotti (R) received 580 votes, “Big” Steve Tracey (R) received 696 votes, and Linda Hennessey (R) received 635 votes. The three seats will be filled by Tracey, Hennesey, and Badamo.

For Town Council District 5, Paul Carbo (R) received 640 votes, Richard Anania (R) received 656 votes, Loria Jaffe (R) received 544 votes, Henry Butler III (D) received 683 votes, George Smith (D) received 587 votes, and Ray Pompano (D) received 577 votes. The three seats will be filled by Butler, Anania, and Carbo.

For Board of Finance, Richard Esposito, Jr. (D) received 3,300 votes, Robert Schumitz, Jr. (R) received 2,861 votes, Marc Conte, Sr. (D) received 3,077 votes, Marlene Asid (R) received 2,903 votes, Richard DePalma (D) received 3,431 votes, Beth Purcell (R) received 3,044 votes, Noreen Clough (D) received 3,158 votes, and Ralph Vitale (R) received 3,323 votes. Seats will be filled by DePalma, Vitale, Esposito, Clough, Conte, and Purcell.

For the Board of Education, Robert Fox, Jr. (D) received 2,836 votes, Samantha Parlato (R) received 3,339 votes, Patricia “Tia” DePalma (D) received 3,132 votes, Michele DeLucia (R) received 3,116 votes, MaryAnn Pellegrino (D) received 3,163 votes, Lisa Geraci-Anastasio (R) received 3,111 votes, Christine Maisano (D) received 3,112 votes, Tom Hennessey (R) received 3,164 votes, Erika Santino Santiago (D) received 3,057 votes, John Finkle (R) received 3,220 votes, Dominic Milano (D) received 3,060 votes, and Temple Parente Smith (R) received 2,789 votes. The seats will be filled by Parlato, DePalma, DeLucia, Pellegrino, Geraci-Anastasio, Maisano, Hennessey, Finkle, and Milano.
