Republican William ‘Bill’ Pieper Seeks Selectman Seat to Serve his Community

William “Bill” Pieper is running on the Republican ticket with incumbent First Selectman Michael Freda. Pieper believes it’s important to give back and serve, pointing to his record of public service, including serving in the military and being a member of the Board of Finance for the past eight years.

“Whether it’s volunteering for charities or coaching baseball or softball—I’m on the board of another charity right now—I think it’s all part of trying to the best of my abilities to give back to the community and our country,” said Pieper.

Pieper said that Freda has made a great effort taking care of the citizens in North Haven who need the most care, such as seniors who may have a limited income or veterans who may be disabled. He said it’s important for everyone to take care of themselves and each other.

He also said Freda has done a great job with economic development in town, and it’s something he would like to see continue. He said the new development is great for the residents because it gives them options for food, entertainment, and services without having to leave town.

Pieper has more than 40 years of leadership and management experience; he is currently vice president of Pentegra Retirement Services. He said he’ll put town needs first if circumstances require it.

“I’m willing to take the days off, if I need to, to do that,” Pieper said.

Freda said that Pieper would be a great asset to the town because of his career in financial management, and said he has a great knowledge of municipal finances
