A bookkeper for a North Haven business owner has been arrested on following an embezzlement investigation.

According to North Haven Police, Sharon Cordero, 48, of Meriden, was taken into custody on Thursday, Oct. 19, after investigators determined she embezzled $225,800 over a five year period.  While employed as a bookkeeper for a North Haven business owner, Cordero made deposits into her personal account at the expense of the business, used business funding to pay for her entire health care plan without authorization, and altered business records in an attempt to cover-up the theft.

Cordero was charged with two counts of larceny in the first degree and two counts of larceny in the second degree. She posted a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Nov. 2.
