Six Valley Mock Trial students competed at Yale on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1. Valley was the only Connecticut high school, while 19 other teams came from California, Missouri, Florida, Georgia, Arizona, Kentucky, Louisiana, North Carolina, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and several New England states.

Yale Mock Trial Bulldog Invitational is designed to bring together some of the nation’s best high school mock trial teams and foster a better understanding of and appreciation for mock trial. It offers high school students the opportunity to compete with America’s top high school teams and learn techniques and strategies used by the 2017 National Finalists. This annual invitational features two parts: a dynamic, two-part workshop series taught by the Yale Mock Trial Association, including All-American attorneys and witnesses, as well as a four-round tournament where some of the top high school teams in the country have the opportunity to compete against each other. Valley students won two awards: Maeve Collins won an Outstanding Prosecution Witness Award, and Gabby Pitruzzello won an Outstanding Defense Witness Award.
