Concerns about Lingering Tar at Former Hays School

The former Hays School on Maple Street, home to several town groups and organizations, recently had its roof replaced, and concerns have now been raised about tar leaking into the building.

Public Works Superintendent of Operations Robert Parente acknowledged there was still some residual tar leaking from the decking of the roof due to its previous patch jobs. With more than 200 ceiling tiles replace so far, Parente called the project a work in progress and said his department will monitor the leaking tar on a daily basis.
