In collaboration with the Guilford Fund for Education (GFFE), Superintendent of Schools Paul Freeman challenged Guilford Public Schools to apply for GFFE grants that supported GFFE’s mission to transform the Guilford educational environment with innovative projects. A special award of $1,000 would be donated to the school’s media arts center from GFFE for the grant application Dr. Freeman felt met the criteria best.

The winner of the Superintendent’s Challenge for 2017 was the Baldwin Robotics Kit, submitted by Rob Macmillan and Pamela Dear of Baldwin Middle School. The success of the BMS Imagination Station in engaging students’ exploration of science, math, technology, as well as integrating the creative aspects of design, has led to a desire to bring additional opportunities to stretch children’s minds and complement the success of existing resources.

This grant was fully funded by GFFE for $2,142.60. Additionally, $1,000 was donated by GFFE to support Media Arts at Baldwin as the prize for the challenge.
