Branford Rotary Salutes Scholarship Student

Alanna Grimm, the daughter of Paula and William Grimm, is the Rotary Club of Branford 2016-’17 academic year scholarship winner.

Grimm has achieved recognition in the National Honors Society and Salve Regina Book Award; she also served as choir president, field hockey captain, and Interact president at Branford High School. Grimm has participated in the Interact Club (the high school equivalent of Rotary) fundraisers, Leo Club events, acted as summer camp counselor at Killam’s Point, and volunteered at the Hammerfest Triathlon and Branford Community Dining Room.

Grimm plans to major in psychology at Northeastern University where she will participate in its global first-year experience in Ireland. She hopes to pursue a career in social work with children.

Branford Rotary is awarding her with a $3,000 scholarship to be applied toward her college expenses. The Rotary Scholarship committee was comprised of Tony Terry (chair), Alpha Coiro, May Donaruma, Karen Jensen, and John Mooney.
