Loaded Gun Magazine Found Outside North Haven's Clintonville Elementary

Police were called to Clintonville Elementary School at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 19 after a loaded gun magazine was found on the ground outside the school.

Officers and detectives immediately began an investigation and conducted multiple area searches. The searches did not yield any firearms.

As the investigation progressed, it was determined that two early morning incidents on Sunday, Sept. 17 may be related. The first incident was a vandalism incident in which a planter was thrown at a glass window of the school. The second incident was the early morning discovery of an unoccupied damaged vehicle parked on the lawn of an Old Forge Road home.

Police identified a 31 year-old North Haven man as a person of interest and interviewed him later in the evening. Officers have accounted for the firearm believed to be associated with the found magazine. The person of interest has no established connection with the school. The incidents are under an ongoing criminal investigation so details are limited at this time.

There is no threat to school security.
