Rose Family Donation Supports 9/11 North Branford Fire Department Memorial

The Rose family directed that memorial gifts in the name of David Rose be made to the North Branford Fire Department. Those funds were used to improve the memorial at Station 1 on Route 80, including an addition of a September 11, 2001 commemorative plaque, recently unveiled with family members on-hand.Photo Courtesy NBFD

The Rose family has been a mainstay of our community for well over a century.  Not surprisingly, the extended Rose family has also been loosely connected with the North Branford Fire Department since it was formed 80 years ago.

Upon the passing of David Rose, the family asked that memorial gifts be sent to the Fire Department.  Those funds were used to help defray some of the costs of updating the Firefighter Memorial next to Headquarters Company 1 on Route 80. There had been a plan to add a plaque and steel girder to the Memorial in remembrance of those lost on September 11, 2001. Unfortunately, other financial priorities took precedence. The balance of the gifts in the name of Mr. Rose were used to add the plaque and steel girder.

A small ceremony was conducted to unveil the new additions to the Memorial and acknowledge the generosity of the Rose family.
