On Sunday, Sept. 17, Broadway and TV star Norm Lewis performs in town at Seaview Production's fourth annual Broadway in Branford to support Legacy Theatre. The event, as always, is offered at "...pay what you can, if you can" ticket rates, said organizer Greg Nobile.

"In a climate where access to Broadway tickets sometimes seems like an insurmountable expense, the event was started four years ago as a way to make sure that our community could always have an opportunity to see Broadway stars live on stage - no matter what your financial status," said Nobile.

Nobile leads Seaview Productions with Jana Shea; supported by Colin Sheehan and Ginny Robbins. Based in Branford and New York, Seaview is an award-winning Broadway, Off Broadway and West End production company.

Lewis, a Tony-nominated star of Broadway stage and hit TV shows, is the "biggest performer yet" to be featured among the A-List stars who've appeared during past Broadway in Branford events, said Nobile.

Lewis made history in May 2014 as the first African American in the lead role of Broadway's Phantom of the Opera.  Among many other Broadway credits, Lewis' lead performance as Porgy, in the Broadway production of George Gershwin's Porgy & Bess, earned Tony, Drama Desk, Drama League, and Outer Critics Circle award nominations.  Lewis was most recently seen in Sweeney Todd, produced by Seaview Productions. Lewis performed the title role, opposite Carolee Carmello. Among his many television credits, Lewis has a recurring role as Senator Edison Davis on the hit ABC drama Scandal.

Lewis takes the stage on Sunday, September 17 at 6 p.m. at Branford's waterfront Owenego Inn & Beach Club, 40 Linden Ave. To make a "pay what you can, if you can" ticket reservation, visit Broadway in Branford at the Legacy Theatre website, here   Also available at the website, VIP tickets, $75, include a pre-show cocktail reception with Lewis, reserved tent seating, and an exclusive pre-show performance.

All proceeds support non-profit Legacy Theatre's efforts to restore the historic Stony Creek Puppet House in Branford.
