East Haven Police are investigating an armed robbery of a motel on Frontage Road on Sunday, Aug. 27.

Police were called to Quality Inn, 30 East Frontage Road, on Aug. 27 by an employee who said that a man in his late 20's or early 30's had robbed the motel while displaying a knife.

The employee told police that she had left the front desk briefly unattended to check on one of the rooms. When she returned, she found a white male reaching over the desk and rummaging through her purse. When the employee walked behind the desk to retrieve her purse, the suspect followed her, retrieved a knife from his pants pocket, and demanded money from the cash register. The suspect then fled on foot with approximately $192 and the employee's wallet.

A witness who was in the area at the time of the robbery said the suspect got into an older model purple Lincoln Continental before speeding off eastbound of Frontage Road.

The suspect was described as a white male with a beard, in his late 20's to early 30's, standing about 5'9" with a skinny build. He was wearing a black baseball hat, white t-shirt, and blue jeans.

"We believe this individual is a suspect in several other armed robberies in the area in recent days," said East Haven Lieutenant Joseph Murgo. "We are asking anyone who may recognize him not to approach him and to contact the East Haven Police Department at 203-468-3820."
