With funding by Branford-based Salute American Vodka and wholesale spirits, wine, and beer distributor Brescome Barton, Inc., John Wright, a Navy hospital corpsman serving with the U.S. Marines during combat deployments in Afghanistan and Iraq, and member of the U.S. Navy’s elite Search and Rescue team, received the tools he needed to start his own business, General Handyman Service LLC, from Connecticut-based nonprofit Work Vessels for Veterans, which equips veteran-entrepreneurs.

John Niekrash of Work Vessels for Vets, Mike Heins of Brescome Barton, Inc., and Michael Lutz of Salute American Vodka were on-site for the award presentation on July 26.
