08/17/2017 12:01 AMChristian Bjork, a member of Boy Scout Troop 428 from Tabor Lutheran Church in Branford, completed his Eagle Scout project on June 3 by replacing the handicap ramp and stairs at the American Legion Post 83 in Branford. Many scouts, friends, and adults helped with the demolition and construction, which took one very long day.
Months of planning and organization went into the project ahead of time; Bjork met with various town officials, members of the American Legion, and material suppliers to present and discuss his detailed plans. Bjork thanks both Branford Building Supplies and the Branford Lions Club for helping to defray the cost of materials. The American Legion now has a new ramp and stairway that meet all applicable building and ADA regulations.
