Chester Common Ground Party Announces Annual Meeting and Nominating Caucus

The Common Ground Party of Chester will hold its annual meeting, election of officers, and nominating caucus on Tuesday, Aug. 22 at 7 p.m. at Chester Town Hall in Conference Room C. The public is welcome.

The primary purpose of the meeting is to accept nominations for candidates for the Nov. 7 municipal election and approve the slate of nominees.

Nominations will be accepted from the floor for candidates who wish to be considered to run on the Common Ground Party line, but only for the following positions: Board of Finance alternate, Regional Board of Education, Planning & Zoning Commission (full voting member and alternate), Zoning Board of Appeals alternate, Inland Wetlands & Watercourses Commission, and Library Board of Trustees.

During the annual meeting, nominations for new members will be accepted. According to party rules, all registered voters of the Town of Chester including registered Democrats and registered Republicans are welcome to join Common Ground Party as members and can vote on any matter that comes before the party membership. The only exclusion is that members of the Chester Democratic Town Committee and Chester Republican Town Committee cannot become members of the party or vote on any party matters.

Prospective candidates and new members should express their interest by sending an email to commongroundct@gmail.com or simply attend the meeting and be nominated from the floor. The existing members then vote on the slate of new members presented.
