East Haven Schools Ready to Welcome Students to a New School Year

As the 2017-’18 school year begins on Monday, Aug. 28, 2017, East Haven is gearing up to welcome back students for another great year. The East Haven Public Schools (EHPS) expects to enroll more than 3,100 students and employ more than 525 faculty and staff including teachers, principals, school counselors, administrators, custodians, food service workers, and many more who play a vital role in helping every student succeed. EHPS is committed to every student who walks through our doors, and we will see that all students receive a high-quality, individualized, and equitable education.

In East Haven schools, students have numerous academic opportunities to ensure that all students’ needs are met and that they are prepared for their future including diverse course offerings with honors and advanced placement options, before- and after-school remediation and enrichment, group and individual tutoring, dual enrollment, career activities, athletics, arts, and more. EHPS also offers a wide range of options and services that support the whole child, including social/emotional supports, career and college counseling, and access to physical and mental health resources when needed.

“We have worked hard to build a safe, supportive, and welcoming education community where we embrace our diversity and come together for a common purpose,” said Acting Superintendent of Schools Erica Forti. “Our dedicated faculty and staff are committed to providing the best education possible for our students. Always, we are looking to the future, searching for new strategies to help students succeed while preparing them for what comes next. East Haven teachers are committed to furthering their own professional learning in an effort to refine their skills and learn new, engaging, and innovative ways to teach our students that will ignite a passion for lifelong learning.

“We welcome our community to engage with us and experience the great things that are happening inside all our East Haven schools,” Forti continued. “To keep up-to-date, and see what’s going on throughout the year, follow us on Twitter @EHPS_eforti or like East Haven Public Schools on Facebook. “As experienced in past years, a truly collaborative system can empower students to reach their full potential. This school year, let’s embrace our diversity, come together, and renew our commitment to providing our students with the foundation they need to succeed in school and in life,” Forti continued. “They deserve nothing less.

“We can’t wait to open our school and classroom doors on Aug. 28 as we lead all our students to excellence over the course of the 2017-’18 school year,” Forti concluded.
