'Look Up!' Branford Notable Tree by Historic Academy on the Green

To increase public awareness of the importance of the town's trees, Branford's Community Forest Commission (CFC) is periodically highlighting Branford Notable Trees. The latest tree of note is this massive red oak on backside of the town green.Photo Courtesy Branford Community Forest Commission

Take a walk on Branford's beautiful town green and check out this magnificent red oak right behind The Academy on the back side of the green.  The tree measures 154 inches in circumference and is approximately 100 feet tall.

The oak typically supports up to 600 species. The Branford Community Forest Commission (CFC) would like to say "Look Up!" and see not only the majesty of trees but all the benefits they provide, from erosion control, cleansing the air we breathe, increasing the value of our homes to providing shade and cooling our homes and neighborhoods.

The CFC hopes to continue to share photos and information of additional Branford Notable Trees, to help increase public awareness of the importance of the town's trees.
