Killingworth GOP Announces Slate


The Killingworth Republican Town Committee (RTC) is pleased to announce its 2017 municipal candidates, as unanimously endorsed by the Killingworth Republican Caucus of July 20.

For first selectman, the RTC endorses Fred Dudek, a former member of the Killingworth Board of Finance for eight years and a current member of the Killingworth Board of Selectmen for 13 years, as well as a member of the Killingworth Volunteer Fire Company for 44 years and 17 years as Killingworth Fire Chief. Dudek is also a 2016 inductee in the Connecticut Firefighter Hall of Fame.

For the Board of Selectmen, the RTC endorses Nancy Gorski and David Adametz. Gorski is the current chairman of the Killingworth Board of Finance and a former member of the Board of Education. Adametz is a current member of the Inland Wetlands Commission and former candidate for Board of Education.

For Board of Finance, the RTC endorses David Hudson, Jason Weinstein, and Matt Young. Young, Weinstein, and Hudson are successful local business owners who wish to bring business-oriented financial planning and economic development to Killingworth.

For Board of Education, the RTC endorses Derek Phelps and Eileen Blewett. Phelps, a father of one, and Blewett, a mother of four and a member of the Killingworth Women’s Organization, are natural proponents of the quality of education in our local schools. The RTC expects good things for our town from them.

For Board of Assessment Appeals, the RTC endorses endorse Harry Taylor and Julie Phelps.

For Planning & Zoning Commission, the RTC endorses Brice McLaughlin, Ron Fine, and incumbent David Gross, who has been on the commission for 12 years.

For Zoning Board of Appeals, the RTC endorses Bruce Campbell and Cheryl Fine.

For Fire Commissioner, the RTC endorses incumbent Todd Hajek, a lifelong resident of Killingworth and a 36-year member of the Killingworth Volunteer Fire Company. He has served as Killingworth’s Fire Commissioner for more than two years and has previously served as fire chief.

“When it comes to Killingworth, we have always stressed the importance of Killingworth values and what is in the best interest for our town,” said RTC Chairman Dave Adametz. “We are happy to stand by our word in endorsing incumbents Dawn Mooney for town clerk and Claudette Lagasse for town treasurer. Their professionalism and desire to put the best interests of the town and its residents over any party partisanship are the very Killingworth values we want to promote...We congratulate the winners of the 2017 Caucus, and we ask Killingworth residents to consider our candidates and their qualities this November.”
