Essex Democrats and Republicans have caucused and presented their respective candidates for the upcoming municipal elections in November. Both parties have cross-endorsed incumbent candidates for some seats.

GOP Candidates

The Essex Republican Town Committee met on July 25 to vote and approve its slate for the 2017 municipal election. The committee has endorsed Vincent Pacileo for first selectman; current selectman Bruce Glowac is running for re-election.

For town clerk, incumbent Joel Marzi is running unopposed.

For town treasurer, the committee has put forward Bruce MacMIllan.

For tax collector, the Republicans have cross-endorsed Megan Haskins, who currently holds the office.

For the Board of Finance, the committee has put forward current chair Keith Crehan; Philip Beckman joins him on the ticket.

For the Region School District #4 Board of Education, the committee has put forward Don “DG” Fitton, currently the vice-chair of the Essex Elementary Board of Education and the secretary and treasurer of the Supervision District Committee.

For the Board of Assessment Appeals, the Essex Republican Town Committee will not field a candidate as there are already two seated Republicans and a third could not win the election due to minority representation rules.

“We have a very strong slate of experienced candidates,” said Bruce MacMIllian, chairman of the committee in a statement. “Our goal is to make Essex thrive as a safe, business friendly, and educationally minded town.”
