Valley Celebrates the 4th with Road Race and Parade

The Chester Rotary Club’s annual Four on the Fourth starts at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, July 4, with day-of registration beginning at 7 a.m. The race begins at the Chester Center flagpole and features prizes, festivities, and live music. For more info and to pre-register, visit www.chesterrotary.org.

The 2017 Ivoryton Fourth of July Parade will be held on Tuesday, July 4. This year’s parade honors Sam O’Donnell and the Essex Ambulance Association volunteers. The parade steps off at 10 a.m. A short ceremony follows the parade at the Ivoryton Park Gazebo. The New Horizons Band will entertain with patriotic songs. Scoops of Centerbrook will sell ice cream in the park.

The Ivoryton Fourth of July Parade Committee invites all who are interested in participating in this year’s parade to sign up and march. Groups, organizations, businesses, and individuals are welcome. Participants may march on foot, pull a wagon, ride a bike, or drive a tractor or any other vehicle.
