Residents Continue to Clean Up East Haven

Clean Up East Haven held its most recent Community Clean-Up on June 10, where several residents gathered and cleaned up trash in and around the commuter parking lots on Kimberly Avenue.

George Smith, who organizes these events, said the group’s mission is two-fold. The first goal is to remove garbage that accumulates in public spaces, and the second is to offer a community activity for those who wish to participate.

He added that anything the group does has a positive effect on the environment.

Morgan Smith, George Smith’s daughter, was one of the participants, and said she has been doing clean-ups since the beginning. She said the work the group does not only helps the town, but can also bring the community together.

A few people driving by the clean-up that day rolled down their car windows, gave a wave, and yelled “thank you” to those who were participating in the clean-up.

“It’s important to have a clean community,” said Merces Soares, a participant in the clean-up.

Garbage bags and rubber gloves were provided by Town of East Haven, A & G Cleaning Agents, Synergy Home Care, Therapy Works, Big Prints, Beacon Insurance and Investment, Therapeutic Massage & Wellness, 4A Painting, Bartlett Legal Group, East Haven Chamber of Commerce and Vietnam Veterans Association Chapter 484.
