• Peggie Jane Chien, the daughter of Bih-Fen and Du-Shieng Chien, has been elected to Phi Beta Kappa. Chien is a senior majoring in cell and developmental biology at the University of Rochester.

• Kathryn Jankura was presented the “Commitment to Teaching” award at Eastern Connecticut State University’s English Night.

• Anne Elizabeth Kalfaian graduated cum laude with a degree in communication sciences and disorders from James Madison University.

• Rebecca Lee was recognized with the Johnston Prize from Wesleyan University.

• Zachary Ligham, a member of the class of 2018 majoring in aerospace engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), was a member of a student team that recently completed an intense, hands-on research project in Paraguay. The project was titled “Bakery and Biodigester.”

• Senan Lonergan was honored with The Economics, B.S., Major Field Award.

• Jessica Marra received the Award for Excellence in English Studies at the 48th annual Awards Recognition Ceremony at Curry College.

• Mercy High School Graduates: Lauren Hutchinson, Kaitlyn Regan, and Chloe Tulimieri.

• Courtney O’Connor graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in equestrian studies and marketing from the University of Findlay. She also recently participated in the University of Findlay’s 2017 Symposium for Scholarship and Creativity.

• Devan Parsons and Kristen Urban performed alongside the West Hartford Symphony Orchestra as part of the Concert Chorale at Eastern Connecticut State University this past April for its annual spring concert in the Fine Arts Instructional Center (FAIC).

• John Peters earned a B.S. in criminal justice from Springfield College.

• Scott R. Primavera, the son of Alison Burtraw and Jason Primavera, graduated cum laude with a B.S. in renewable energy engineering from the Inamori School of Engineering at Alfred University.

• Shane Proietto graduated cum laude with a doctor of veterinary medicine degree from Iowa State University.

• Matthew Shorten (GHS Class of 2016) has just completed his freshman year at Blair School of Music, Vanderbilt University. He was recently the recipient of the Margaret Branscomb Prize, awarded to the Blair first-year student judged to have the musical and personal qualities that best exemplify the spirit and standards of the school.

• James Sullivan was selected to serve as orientation group leader for the 2017 Summer Orientation and Registration Program at Western New England University. He also starred in Western New England University’s spring production of Beauty and the Beast.

• Sarah Terwilliger was awarded a B.S. in management engineering with distinction from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
